Sometimes you have to vacate.

Hey guys. I know I been M.I.A. per usual but I really needed to take a moment to focus on me and what I really want out of life. Key word “I” because social media has a way of influencing us without us even knowing it.

Social media with all its benefits has some negative affects. Ever find yourself scrolling down a timeline and start feeling weird, like almost mentally comparing yourself to other people as it slowly habituates in your subconscious? Even if you think the world of yourself and have the best self-esteem, rather you want to admit it or not, it happens. That’s why I encourage a social media break every once in a while. It’s good for you. It’ll be ok. Social media will still be there once you return. *inserts wink*

So this coming year, 2019, I’m going to make a point to be social media present as well as more present on my website. It’s apart of my New Year’s Resolution. I realize that I have a calling and it’s not just about me, but about you guys as well. I hope I can continue to inspire and pour into your heart and spirit as God allows.

I want to start this thing called #TransparencyMoments where we can vent about our days or how we are feeling with no filter. People majorily post highlights on social media, but never the struggle or the ‘wilderness’ of their lives.  I want social media to be a place where we can support our brothers and sisters as they go through things and not just double tap on a bomb photo. I get it. You are a private person. You don’t want to be judged, BUT think about how you can potentially free someone else that may be going through the same thing as you. You’ll be surprised at how many of us go through the same thing or something similar. Transparency is powerful.

Studies show that we spend more than 11 hours per day watching, reading, listening to or simply interacting with social media. That’s more than a full time job. Crazy right? So why can’t we use social media to lift each other up through the hard times? I want us to be awesome humans and not just post once we have a bomb selfie after taking it 20 times or after we have the perfect edited photo of how we really want to look by altering our bodies through a photo app. I want us to just be our true genuine self without worrying about anyone’s opinion or approval. We got to rid ourselves of public opinion. That’s a whole other post! (LOL) Until next time, see you guys on social media. #TransparencyMoments
